Full dentures replace all teeth in an arch (upper or lower) and rest on your gums. Partial dentures replace some missing teeth and attach to remaining natural teeth using clasps or precision attachments for support and stability.

Most people adjust to new dentures within 2-4 weeks. Speaking and eating may feel different initially, but practice helps you adapt quickly. Start with soft foods and gradually progress to your normal diet as you become more comfortable.

Remove and rinse dentures after eating, brush them daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner (not regular toothpaste), soak overnight in denture solution, and clean your gums and any remaining teeth regularly. Handle with care to avoid dropping.

Dentures typically need relining every 1-2 years to maintain proper fit as your jawbone changes. Complete replacement is usually needed every 5-10 years due to normal wear and changes in your mouth structure.

The cost of dentures depends on the type, the materials, and whether you need one arch or both. Ask us for a quote. Many dental insurance plans and CDCP cover a portion of denture costs, and we bill most plans directly.

New dentures may temporarily affect your speech, causing slight lisping or difficulty with certain words. This is normal and improves with practice. Reading aloud and repeating difficult words helps you adjust faster, usually within a few weeks.

Well-fitting dentures shouldn't require adhesive for normal daily activities. However, adhesive can provide extra confidence and security for some patients. If you find yourself needing adhesive frequently, your dentures may need adjustment or relining.
